Start Site Volunteers

Pier 97: 4:30 AM - 10 AM

Help set-up check-in stations, check-in riders, direct bicycle traffic in and out of the pier and distribute t-shirts. After all riders are checked in and on the route, you’ll pitch in to get our finish festival set up and underway.


Finish Fest Volunteers

Pier 97: 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Break down registration area, unload, begin setting up the finish festival and greet our returning riders.

Pier 97: 1:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Greet riders, hand out t-shirts, be part of the bike valet team, put up signage, direct bicycle traffic in and out of the pier and be a smiling face at the TransAlt information table. You will need to help with breaking down the site and loading the truck.

Prospect Park: 5:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Marine Park: 5:30 AM - 10:30 AM

Marine Park: 10 AM - 3 PM

Astoria Park: 7:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Forest Park: 7:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Forest Park: 12 PM - 4:30 PM

Van Cortlandt Park: 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Welcome riders along the way. You’ll be on hand to provide assistance wherever it’s needed, from hanging signs to making peanut butter sandwiches to offering high fives. Help riders refuel and send them back on the course with a rousing cheer.


Riding Marshals

100 mile marshals: 5:30 AM - 6 PM meet at Pier 97

62 mile marshals: 6:30 AM - 6 PM, meet at Pier 97

31 mile marshals: 7:30 AM - 6 PM, meet at Pier 97

You are an experienced cyclist with the ability to fix flats and handle other minor mechanical breakdowns. Please bring your bike and be ready to ride the entire course. Help riders navigate the route, negotiate tricky intersections, fix flats and find their way to rest areas and bike repair stations.

You’re welcome to specify a preferred route length. And, we’ll ask you to be flexible. We may ask you to change your route assignment depending on the final needs of the tour.

Riding Marshals - Sweep Marshals

Early Morning Ride Marshals: 4:15AM meet at Pier 97

100 Mile Sweep Marshal: 8:00AM meet at Pier 97

62 Mile Sweep Marshal: 8:45AM meet at Pier 97

31 Mile Sweep Marshal: 9:30AM meet at Pier 97

Early morning ride marshals ride the course before all the riders and provide a final set of eyes on the course before registered riders leave. 

Sweep marshals are responsible for bringing up the rear and making sure that any riders who are in the back of the ride keep up with the ride and don't fall behind.

Prospect Park Loop - 5:30 AM - 11:30 AM (requires a bike)

RFK Triborough Bridge - 8:30 AM - 2 PM

RFK Triborough Bridge - 1:30 PM - 5:45 PM

Brooklyn Bridge - 5:30 AM - 10 AM

Marine Parkway Bridge - 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Marine Parkway Bridge - 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Play an integral part in Bike the Boros: guide riders through potentially tricky areas of the route. Stationary marshals do not need any prior experience marshalling but should have access to a bike and be willing to ride it to your marshalling station, which may be a substantial distance from public transit.
